State Credit Notes are backed by all possessions of the State and by the conversion upon request to metal coinage from the state funds set for this specific purpose.

The State Bank was founded just three years earlier by the State Decrees dated May 31 and June 9, 1860, which led to centralization of the Russian financial system. Although, the State Bank was directly related to and, to a large degree, controlled by the Imperial Government, its creation overall improved Russian monetary system. In 1862, the Government made an attempt to make Credit Notes convertible into Gold and Silver coin. Moreover, issued earlier paper notes were made convertible with an added interest. The conversion was to start on May 1, 1862 and continue with a reducing amount of added interest, from May 1 till August 1, 1862. However, by November 1, 1863 the demand for coinage was so great that it brought conversion to standstill. To give credit to the Russian Imperial Government, Russian State Credit Notes were always convertible to gold, at least in theory, and were intermittently convertible to gold in practice until 1914. Moreover, the prestige of the State Bank and the Tzar behind it among common people were so great that many were converting gold to paper all the way until the very end in 1914. An abdication of Tzar Nicholas II, a grandson of Alexander II, on March 15, 1917 that led to the collapse of the Empire and its monetary system was an unthinkable event that represents the degree of high treason unheard-of in Russia before then. But, that is an entirely different story.. Please LOOK at the photographs and MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGMENT as to the notes grade and value. You are looking at the actual note you will receive!!
